Our Strategic Intent
Our decision to deliver the L3 Safeguarding Support Officer apprenticeship is to meet the growing need for skilled professionals in various sectors to protect vulnerable individuals from harm, abuse, and neglect.
The L3 Safeguarding Support Officer apprenticeship equips staff with the essential knowledge of safeguarding legislation, organisational policies, and practical skills to act as a first point of contact for safeguarding concerns, enabling them to contribute to a culture of safety within the organisation.
Meeting a Critical Need:
- Protecting Vulnerable People: The primary driver is the need to safeguard children, young people, and vulnerable adults by protecting their rights, health, and well-being from harm, abuse, and neglect.
- Compliance and Best Practice: The apprenticeship ensures staff are trained to understand and apply current safeguarding legislation and organizational policies, aligning with national standards.
Developing Key Skills and Competencies:
- First Point of Contact: Apprentices are trained to be the initial point of contact for safeguarding concerns and to understand how to prioritize and recommend appropriate courses of action.
- Collaboration and Communication: The training covers essential communication skills and how to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective safeguarding processes.
- Assessing and Reporting: Apprentices learn to gather and assess information and intelligence, allowing them to prepare accurate accounts of concerns and make high-quality referrals for appropriate action.
